Over the years SMS users have incurred unexpected billing expenses associated with Premium SMS (PSMS) or MMS Services. Examples of PSMS include voting lines, sports scores, news information, competition or chat services, operated usually via phone numbers starting with "19". Consequently, unassuming users find themselves incurring ongoing fees for unwanted services.
TPG has implemented a new Premium Service barring facility for all TPG mobile customers. Rest assured, you will not incur these charges by barring access to PSMS services.
How can I bar Premium SMS (PSMS) services?
If you do not wish to incur charges for PSMS services, bar access to PSMS via the Mobile Service Control Panel – online mobile account management facility. To access the Mobile Service Control Panel, simply login to your account at www.tpg.com.au/account using your mobile number and password. Once you have logged on, select 'View All Mobile Services Accounts', then click 'Mobile Service Control Panel'.
Alternatively, you can contact TPG Mobile Customer Service Team for further assistance on
13 14 23.
There is no additional charge for barring. Barring will occur within one business day of receipt. Once processed, you will not have access to PSMS services and will not incur PSMS charges. Non PSMS services will not be affected.
Financial risks and PSMS Services
Charges for PSMS services are higher than standard SMS/MMS rates. To avoid high and unexpected charges read how the premium rates are applied. You are responsible for the costs of any PSMS services. If you do understand the associated financial risks and want access to PSMS services, you may choose to unbar PSMS Services via the Mobile Service Control Panel.
