nbn® plans are getting a speed increase

nbn® plans are getting a speed increase

From 16 September 2025 onwards, nbn® is bringing you its fastest speeds yet, on its three highest tier plans. The upgrade is set to give eligible customers a faster and smoother home internet connection, getting Australia future-ready for tomorrow’s digital innovations.

Why faster speeds matter for your household?

These days, it’s not just about streaming your favourite shows or jumping on a video call. Aussie households are packed with smart tech – think security systems, smart TVs, baby monitors and more. With faster nbn® speeds on the way, you’ll be able to power all your devices with ease. That means smoother streaming, smarter homes, and a connection you can count on.

What plans are getting faster?

These new, faster speeds are available for TPG nbn® customers on an NBN100, Home Superfast or Home Ultrafast plan. However, you’ll need a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection.

Current Typical Evening Speed (7-11pm) (Mbps) New Estimated Typical Evening Speed (7-11pm) (Mbps) Current maximum speed (Mbps) New maximum speed (Mbps)
nbn® 100 100/17 500/42 100/20 500/50
Home Superfast 250/21 640/42 250/25 750/50
Home Ultrafast 800/40 800/85 500-~1000/50 ~1000*/100

The Maximum Speed represents the theoretical maximum possible speed that is available during off-peak periods. Estimated typical evening download speed: As this is a new plan, the speed stated here is currently based on an estimate. TPG will revise the typical evening download speed once it has collected enough data on the speed performance for these plans. Typical evening upload speed is estimated by reference to the maximum upload speed for the plan. *Home Ultrafast: the actual wholesale speeds delivered will be less than 1000Mbps due to equipment and network limitations. Speeds experienced may be impacted by your modem and in-home setup.

I’m on an eligible plan. How do I get the higher speeds?

To recap, you’re eligible for the speed increase if you’re on an NBN100, Home Superfast or Home Ultrafast plan with an FTTP/HFC connection. Let us handle it – get higher speeds in September and you don’t need to do anything.

Not on a high-speed plan yet?

If you’re on an FTTP/HFC connection but on an NBN12, NBN25 or NBN50 plan, you won’t see a speed change. To see if you’re eligible to upgrade your plan, log in to your account.

Get higher speeds with a $0 FTTP upgrade

Are you on a Fibre to the Node/Building/Curb (FTTN/B/C) connection? You might be eligible for a $0 standard installation upgrade to FTTP, so you could enjoy faster and more reliable speeds. Unless you are already on NBN100, you will also need to upgrade your nbn® plan (additional costs apply).
